Casual games are where you try out new strategies and ideas, without revealing too much of a match strategy. It's nice to have a company supported server, where you can meet other teams for friendly play, and not spend a lot of time trying to get people to show up at your private server. A personal story: Every time our team has set up a private server, someone has to constantly go to the open servers to try and "recruit" people to show up at the server. It becomes a hassle when you need to always leave a server to go into another server to get more people.
